Andrew's Rants - Life Explained

I can appeal to someone shooting for the stars, as unrealistic as something may be to just go for it.

The way I see it, happiness is the ultimate goal right? To be happy you need a lot of things, but the most measurable are food and shelter, which basically equates to money. Making it also measurable.

But the other things you need are harder to measure, but we can still try and measure something like FUN. Fun requires outings and good people, you can’t measure good people by number, but you can measure outings, again, using money.

Go through that exercise a few more thousand times and you basically boil down to needing MONEY and GOOD PEOPLE. Money is measurable. Good people can also be measurable.

Good people include a good family. Good friends. And the hardest of all - a good companion. Family is something you’re born with and cannot be altered (The family you are born into, not the family you would one day possibly create), so this is a constant. Friends are usually not a problem for most people, and I’d say that’s true for us and most of our friends as well, so let’s call this a constant as well. Now finding a companion is where variability and uncertainty arise.

Because of the original two things, MONEY and GOOD PEOPLE, our companion will also be searching for these two things. Keeping in mind that given the current dynamic in our western world a companion will often search for a man who is able to provide MONEY because that will allow for the creation of FAMILY (which falls under GOOD PEOPLE). Now of course a good companion will not search solely for a man with MONEY, he must also fulfill other un-measurable desires which are different for everyone.

When it comes down to it, the best way to be happy is to work hard at something you enjoy doing while surrounded by the best people, because this will yield base happiness as well as MONEY. Which will in turn attract a companion to round out your sphere of happiness. Because of the variability and uncertainty arising from said companion I believe it’s best to let that piece fall into place, but everything else (which is either a constant or MONEY) should be what you dedicate your time to.

Hence, why I spend my time working or working on myself, one of which yields MONEY in the present and the other yields MONEY in the future, and the rest of my time goes to my constants, my friends and my family, where I spend said MONEY on FUN, and enjoy the company of GOOD PEOPLE.
